Question: Blessed Shaykh (Q), is making Madad the same as doing meditation, or is it different?
Shaykh AI:
B’ism Allah… Alhamdulillah, from the teachings of Mawlana Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi (QS), making Madad and meditation are related but different practices. When you make Madad, you are calling upon the support and presence of the saints and shaykhs. It’s like calling 911 for spiritual support. The energy and shield of the saints and shaykhs surround you when you make Madad, providing you with their presence and blessings.
On the other hand, meditation is a practice of contemplation and connection with the Divine. It involves visualizing the shaykh in front of you, reciting salawats, and focusing on the presence of the shaykh to cut out the whisperings of shaitan. Meditation helps in purifying the heart and removing bad characteristics through the heat of the spiritual process.
So, while making Madad involves seeking the support and presence of the saints and shaykhs, meditation is a practice of spiritual connection and purification. Both practices are important in the spiritual journey and serve different purposes.
May Allah (ﷻ) grant you success in your spiritual practices and elevate your connection with Him and His beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Keep striving to perfect your character and be of service to the Tariqa and others.
