B’ism Allah… Alhamdulillah, from the teachings of Mawlana Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi (QS), finding a guide to reach towards our spiritual realities is of utmost importance. The guidance to reach our spiritual realities is emphasized in the Quran when it mentions “Obey God, obey the Prophet (s) and obey those in authority” (4:59). This verse highlights the significance of following those who are reflecting the reality of the Prophet (s) in the absence of the physical presence of the Prophets.

Seeking a guide is crucial because the Prophets are no longer amongst us in physical form. Therefore, we must seek out the people of authority, the Saints, who can show us the way of the Prophets. As Rumi beautifully said, “Whoever enters the Way without a guide will take a hundred years to travel a two-day journey.” This illustrates the immense value of having a guide on the spiritual path.

When we follow a Master who has reached reality, they can graft their reality onto us, just like a farmer grafts his plants. By immersing ourselves in their light and teachings, we allow them to graft their light and reality onto our souls. This process involves studying their teachings, emulating their actions, and visualizing their spiritual presence. The guidance of a spiritual guide is essential for us to progress on the path of reaching our spiritual realities.

In the Sufi tradition, the importance of finding a guide is likened to finding a treasure map that leads us to divine treasures within our hearts. The guide, like a mirror, reflects and magnifies our light, helping us to purify our hearts and elevate our spiritual energy. Through the guidance of the Saints, our hearts are slowly attuned to the Divine Presence, and the condition of our hearts is transformed to become a source of Divine blessings.

Therefore, finding a guide is not only important but essential for those seeking to reach their spiritual realities. The guidance and mentorship of a spiritual guide are invaluable in perfecting the light within our hearts and progressing on the path of spiritual elevation.

May Allah guide us to the right guides and open our hearts to receive their blessings. Ameen.
