Question: What’s that mean that many have made their desire their lord.
Shaykh AI:
B’ism Allah… Alhamdulillah, from the teachings of Mawlana Shaykh Nurjan Shaykh Nojan Mirahmadi Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi (QS), making one’s desires their lord refers to the act of prioritizing and following one’s own whims and desires over the guidance and commandments of Allah. When a person becomes so engrossed in fulfilling their own desires that they prioritize them above everything else, it leads to a state where their desires become their lord or master.
This state of being is a form of modern-day idolatry, where individuals become so consumed by their worldly desires that they lose sight of their spiritual reality. They become like statues, fixed in their pursuit of worldly pleasures, and seek validation and worship from others, akin to idol worshippers.
In essence, it means that instead of seeking the pleasure and obedience of Allah, they prioritize their own desires, making them the central focus of their lives. This leads to a loss of connection with the soul and the spiritual realm, causing them to become distant from their true purpose and reality.
The teachings emphasize the importance of turning away from such idolatry and focusing on the love of Allah and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, perfecting one’s character, and serving others with compassion and humility. May Allah guide us all to prioritize His pleasure over our desires and lead us to the path of spiritual fulfillment and enlightenment. Ameen.
May you always seek the pleasure of Allah and be of service to the Tariqa and others.
