Question: Shaykh how can one be conscious of the breathe.
B’ism Allah… Alhamdulillah, from the teachings of Mawlana Shaykh Nurjan Mirahmadi (QS), being conscious of the breath is essential in Sufi meditation. One way is to start by practicing the zikr “Hu” while wearing the dress of the shaykh. This helps in focusing the breath and presence while meditating. By controlling the breath and making the breathing pattern restricted through the nose, a deeper state of consciousness is achieved. The breathing practices are meant to draw in positive energy into the heart and release negative energy. Remember, being conscious of the breath is a gateway to presence and engagement with the Divine.
